There's a reason why I'm calling this time after my recent layoff "my unplanned (yet not unexpected) temporary early retirement." It's because I've been fully committed to enjoying every minute of it.
I know, for some, it's easier said than done. But listen, you'll be working again before you know it, and once you are, you'll look back and wish you had enjoyed your time off more.
So get out of the house or stay in and get cozy, reconnect with friends or former coworkers, go on vacation, sleep in, and relish the peacefulness of not having work to do. You'll work again eventually; don't let your future self down by not enjoying this time while you have it.
